Globulin
The antibody fraction of blood protein. A sharp rise usually means immunoglobulins are being overproduced. Higher results are the ones to watch. A common adult reference interval is 1.5–3.5 g/dL.
Typical adult range
- Reference interval
- 1.5–3.5 g/dL
- Often-cited tighter window
- 2–3 g/dL
Standard adult laboratory reference interval. Your own lab's printed range is the one that applies to your result.
What commonly moves it
- Kappa/Lambda Ratio
- Plasma-cell / paraprotein activityClonal light-chain production raises globulin and can suppress marrow output.
- Systemic inflammationRaises hepcidin (blocking iron), ESR/fibrinogen, and blunts T3 conversion.
